The most beautiful valley of the Alps?
I had the chance, a young UCPA cross-country ski instructor, to work at the Ceillac UCPA center from 1986 to 1988, at the beginning of my career as a sports instructor. I met people of great kindness, men and women of mountain and heart, some of whom became my friends. I come back 2 or 3 times a year to Ceillac to find them and also to find these mountains, preserved from the excesses of the big resorts, which make up for me the ideal mountain.
The beauty of the Ceillac Valley is difficult to transcribe. A simple anecdote is more revealing than some adjectives or superlatives. In 2003, riding to Grand Paradis on skis with a group of English participants, I was discussing our travels with Jonathan, one of my faithful travelers from across the Channel. The conversation, initially centered on the pleasure of skiing, took a more general and even deeper turn when we began to talk about the risks we were taking in the mountains.
