Hiking and trekking in the Alps, round Mont Blanc : the Tour du Mont Blanc is one of the most famous trekkings in the world. Whether you do it by the classic route or by its variants, clockwise or counterclockwise, walking or running (UTMB, but this is not our goal ...!), you will achieve a unforgettable tour in three countries : France, Italy and Switzerland. The Tour passes in 8 valleys : Val Montjoie, Glaciers valley, Val Véni, italian Val Ferret, swiss Val Ferret, Grand Saint Bernard valleys, Trient valley, Chamonix valley. at the base of the peaks and glaciers of the whole Mont-Blanc group.
Organization : you sleep each night in a mountain hut or in a lodge, where you can order your pic-nic for the next day. Thus, your backpack will only contain your clothes and spare garments, a poncho, a silk sheet, your camera, your toilet bag, a book, and your pic-nic. Consequently, there is no need to use a mule or a 4 wheel drive car to carry your luggage from hut to hut. Guiding : a qualified IFMGA Mountain Guide, or a qualified UIMLA International Mountain Leader, with 8 to 15 participants. Your Guide or Leader speaks fluently English.
"The whole of Tour du Mont Blanc", from Wednesday to Sunday : meeting at 9h00 am at Les Houches (1010 m). Cable car up to Bellevue (1794 m), Bionnassay nepalese bridge (1720 m), Tricot pass (2120 m), optional ascent to Mont Vorassay (2299 m), Miage mountain pasture (1559 m) / Truc chalet (1750 m), Les Contamines-Montjoie (1167 m), Nant Borrant lodge (1450 m) / Bonhomme pass (2329 m), Croix du Bonhomme pass (2479 m), Les Fours pass (2665 m), les Mottets (1868 m) / La Seigne pass (2516 m), Elisabetta hut (2195 m) / Combal lake (1958 m), Arp Vieille supérieure (2303 m), Chécrouit pass (1956 m), Courmayeur (1230 m) / Bertone hut (1970 m), Bonatti hut (2025 m) / Grand Col Ferret pass (2537 m), optional ascent to Tête de Ferret (2713 m), La Fouly (1593 m) / Praz de Fort (1151 m), Champex (1486 m) / Bovine (1987 m), Portalo (2040 m), la Forclaz pass (1526 m), Trient (1297 m) / Balme pass (2191 m), la Boerne (1401 m) / Le Brévent ( 2525 m), Bellachat hut (2152 m) / Optional visit to Parc Merlet zoo, Les Houches (1010 m). End of the programme at Les Houches around 3 pm. Total climbing : 8588 m / 28170 feet. Total going down : 9365 m / 30720 feet. Total hiking time : 65 hours ( climbing pace : + 300 meters per hour ).

Your clothes : * for your head : - a woollen hat - a cap for the sun - a pair of high quality sun glasses * for your upper body : - 2 T-shirts - warm underclothing (wool, or light polar fur) - a thick and warm polar fur - a Goretex mountaineering jacket, with a hood - a poncho - do not bring sweat-shirts, which are useless and heavy * for your legs : - bermuda short or skin-tights - a pair of light cotton mountaineering trousers - a pair of windproof and waterproof trousers * for your feet : - three pairs of woollen socks, three pairs of cotton socks - a pair of short mountaineering gaiters - a pair of high quality hiking shoes, warm and waterproof. We advise you to test your shoes before your departure, and to protect the zones of friction on your feet with "Compeed". - a pair of light espadrilles * for your hands : - a pair of silk undergloves - a pair of mountaineering or ski gloves ____________________________________________ Also bring : - a hiking backpack with a volume between 50 and 60 liters - a light silk sheet (weighing less than 150 grams) - additional underwear - pic-nic for day 1 - a few energy bars for the longest stages (you can buy them during the Tour, in Les Contamines-Montjoie, Courmayeur or Champex) - tooth paste, tooth brush, a very light razor, a very light hand towel (a 40 cms x 40 cms square towel is perfect), small individual doses of shampoo - a large plastic bag to store your clothes in case of rain (no backpack is perfectly hermetic) - a very light LED Head Lamp. Place a new alkaline battery in your head lamp, and bring with you additional batteries - a flask ( 1.5 liter minimum ) - a spare pair of shoe laces - handkerchiefs - a pocket knife - sun cream, lipstick - telescopic walking sticks (optional) - a light survival blanket (maximum weight : 100 grams) - your passport - means of payment (pic-nics, drinks in the huts) : only Cash. Most of the huts do not accept Credit Cards. - camera, memory cards and batteries - medicines : consult your doctor to know which medicines you should bring along. Do not forget "Compeed" to prevent blisters, elastic adhesive wrap (3-Cut tape), Aspirins, eye-drop lotion, earplugs (many people snore in the huts !), personal drugs
Lodging : 5 nights in mountain huts (dormitories), 6 nights in lodges (small dormitories or rooms).
Physical condition : Your fitness : you are in good condition (you practise sports twice a week). You are used to hiking. Total climbing of the Tour : 8588 m / 28170 feet. Total going down : 9365 m / 30720 feet. Total hiking time : 65 hours ( climbing pace : + 300 meters per hour ).
Size of the group : the minimal number of participants is 8, the maximum number of participants is 15. If the minimal number of participants is not reached, you will be informed of the cancellation of the course 21 days before the departure date.
